It’s a fascinating blend of history, technique, and pure artistic play. We’ll start with a quick intro and live demo, then you’ll create your own Gyotaku prints using locally sourced Block Island fish (our most cooperative models). We’ll guide you through each step, including how to paint a bright, realistic fish eye to bring your artwork to life. You’ll have plenty of time to experiment and leave with multiple finished pieces.

We’ll also explore the sustainable roots of Gyotaku and how artists honor the fish by preserving it for later use — a thoughtful, eco-minded approach to creativity.
