Thanks for reading along as we shared the smallest sample of the amazing work that has been and is being written by Black American authors!Today's poem is written by Sonia Sanchez, a poet, playwright, children's author, and a figurehead of the Black Arts Movement. The first Presidential Fellow at Temple University in 1977, Sanchez taught there until her retirement in 1999. In 2001, Sanchez was awarded the Robert Medal for lifetime achievement and impact in American poetry, and her latest work, Collected Poems, is due out in April.
