Art and Research Residency Talk hosted by Low Season Artist Projects

Art and Research residency talk with Jeff Ostergren and Rene Almeling.

Join us for a free public event hosted by Low Season Artist Projects
and sponsored by the Block Island Arts Council.

Jeff Ostergren, a New Haven–based artist, will discuss his
color-saturated works that explore the intertwined histories of
pharmaceuticals, chemistry, and visual culture. Rene Almeling,
Professor of Sociology at Yale University, will present research
from a new project on climate change, introducing the concept of
“climate privilege” to examine how intersecting social advantages
contribute to climate inaction.

Low Season Artist Projects is an artist-run residency program partnering with the Block Island Arts Council and the Old Town Inn. The residency promotes community interaction through lectures and workshops for island residents. It provides time and space for visiting artists to engage with the history, landscape and ecology of Block Island during the low season. For more information:
